The garden center is clueless

Ok....... I'm stumped, what is this thing?
Its a happy lil dude, the nodes grow similar to a china doll.
When I repoted it, looks like a potato. ..? Any guesses

I don't really know. It looks like a cutting some kind of woody plant - tree or shrub.

The closest I could find was vitex sp. known as chaste tree, aka Texas Lilac, Lilac Chaste Tree

You didn't say where you are. I think this is pretty common in Texas and similar areas.

It is sometimes called Texas lilac, because it has very pretty purple flowers.

Let us know if you think I am right.

It looks to be very poorly rooted so far, so you will need to take very good care of it, until it develops better root system.

Heck yea, I will do some research on that. I'm in Virginia , blue Ridge/afton mtn..... the root was so stringy, so I did a air layer about two inches up, I'm gona open it up next spring. Its been 3 days sence the repot, so I think its gona do just fine. Thanks SGT ! Very pleased with your efforts on this !
