Strange mushrooms in my compost.

I found these strange things growing out of the compost pile today.
Its an add as I go pile and doesn't get very hot so I have tossed some mushrooms from the yard in it but never saw any like this before.

Should I just let them grow in there now?

I think those only last a day ...two at most... Very fragile things. They are helping to break down the compost ingredients and will in turn become food for others. :D

I love to see them in my compost pile; it means everything is working.

The bulk of any mushroom are the white thready bits under the surface. The fruiting body is ephemeral, it hurts nothing.

As mushroom threads grow they break down lignin and fiber in compost. Which is exactly what they are supposed to do.
