List of hydrangea companion plants

I thought I would start a posting of companion plants and let everyone else chime in and add more to the list.
Hostas, azaleas, camellias, daylilies, Blue Mist Spiraea 'Blue Mist' Caryopteris x clandonensis, heucheras, astilbes... but while passing an apartment complex, I saw some tall grasses and I wondered if more compact, good-on-part-shade grasses could be used to cover the feet of some large paniculatas. Limelight is notorious for showing its feet at times and some compact, green -or maybe brown- grasses might hide the leafless bottoms of the stems.
