I've tried all sorts of methods. Hanging upside-down in a dry attic, allowing to dry in a vase of slowly evaporating water, and in the trunk of my car. What I've noticed is that I get the best success when the flowers are harvested later in the season (september/October here in western MA. So last year I decided to be scientific about it and cut some peegees while they were just starting to blush and another batch as they were just starting to dry on the bush. Both batches I simply stood on an empty vase in a dimmly lit room. Sure enough, the fresh ones turned brown as they were drying, but the older ones kept their deep pink tones nicely. Just a note: I have only tried with annabelles and peegees...don't know about others, as they don't tend to do so well around here.
