Preparing oregano for winter

I did a google searcha and a search of this forum and I can't seem to figure out the best way to go about preparing my oregano for winter.

Right now it's mostly dead, a bit weedy and with no salvageable leaves (I already cut and dried what I had). Do I cut all of the plant down for winter, most of it, none of it? Just cut off the tops?

I know I need to weed it, mulch it a bit and do some trimming but I can't figure out what/how much.

Thanks!

You can cut all the dead stems off just a couple inches above the ground. In the spring it will send up new stems from the roots.
