Makeshift Bird Baths

I worked in the yard today and made these bird baths out of misc things that I already had. Large plastic pots with plastic garbage can lids weighted down with rocks and filled with water. I have some small bird baths and the birds like them, but the water evaporates quickly from them. It's been extra warm and dry lately so I wanted to be sure there is adequate water for my birdie friends. It will take a while before they start using them. I'm sure that they will enjoy having water.

They look nice painted like that. Just one question -- won't the black color warm up the water? Maybe good in winter but could be less good in the summer....

Actually, not painted, just some extra plastic trash can lids that I had in the garage. Cost : $0. That's what I like about it.
You are right, the water does get warm. I'll ask the birds if they mind.
I have other bird baths that are more typical. It's been so warm and dry and I'm so busy, so I wanted to give the birds some extra water that would take longer to dry up than my smaller bird baths.
