Bat question

I was thinking about putting up a bat house but also want to have a butterfly garden. My concern is; do bats eat butterflies?

They eat flying insects, certainly, but since bats are nocturnal, they tend to eat more moths than butterflies. :)

The Organization for Bat Conservation (www.batconservation.org) has some good info on bats. They have probably migrated into your area already, but if you prep a house this year and leave it up, there may be scouts or adolescent males that find it next year. It can take a few years to get bats in your house. Probably less time to get them in your belfry... (ahem)
