Coppicing Hazelnut

Hello, I am interested in coppicing a 17 year old hazelnut that has grown too high and is cutting off a light from my garden. But it gives me hazel nuts and I really don't want to jeapordize that harvest. Does anyone know if I can coppice (every 5 - 10 years) and still expect nuts? Thanks!

in general, you should be okay, but you may not get nuts in the first year after cutting.
