Odd-looking bug on tomato plant

I don't know what this bug is...its so small, maybe 1/4 of an inch.

Is it hurting my plant? or keeping pests at bay?

Its on my early girl plant, and I havnt seen any on the sweet 100.

either it has grown or theres more than one, because Itused to be only 75% this size...

Heres a pick. its green. it has a weird-shaped head...box-like...kinda like a horses.

It looks very like a young grasshopper to me. Whether that's the exact genus or not, I doubt it a "good" insect for you plants. I expect it's eating them.

Grasshoppers prefer grass  to tomatoes. Just pick it up or, more likely, chase it away until it finds a more suitable home.

It may just be looking for refuge from bigger insects by blending into your tomato plant. I have a ton of grasshoppers and don't really have a prob with them. I have more trouble with butterflies.

I've got a grasshopper living on one of my plants--maybe I should look closer for any eaten leaves. Oops!

Isn't it strange how place to place insect's act different .We have no problem with butterfly's. maybe our grasshopper's eat are plant's because we have so many they are every where. you cant hardly take a step with out them jumping around.

Yep, one of the most widely used names for pill bugs is "wood lice."

Very nice pic, BTW! :D
