How do I prevent common tomato diseases

Could someone please give me information about common/serious diseases tomatoes can get and how to prevent/cure them.

This may not be precisely what you are looking for but one of the best ways to prevent disease is to plant resistant varieties. Look on the seed package or label that came with the plant and notice a series of letters after the name such as V,F,N. These letters indicate that this variety is resistant to a particular malady. The more different letters the more types of problems you will avoid and as the old saying goes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
