Landscaping around a patio

We just put in a goshen stone patio that we want to landscape around. We have some perennials that we will be planting (I.e. Zagreb- not sure if that's the right name or not...echinacea, daisies, and I'm not sure the names of the others). The patio will get mostly sun with some afternoon shade.

What do you recommend? We were thinking ornamental grasses, but we aren't sure what else would look nice around a patio. We're open to shrubs or some hedges too.

thank you : )

I would work in some evergreen shrubs so that everything isn't gone in the winter. Boxwood are popular and 'Green Gem' is easy to maintain. There are literally hundreds of plants you could use. If you take a trip to a nursery, arboretum, or just a walk through your area and make a list of the evergreens that strike your eye, I can give you a better idea of the pros/cons of each for your purposes.
