Soil Mixes (any garden type)

Here you can discuss all of your favorite mixes for raised beds, container's, or ordinary beds.

My mom once used an all organic mix. It produced huge fruits and vegetables. Her mix is:
 • 1/2 part Horse Manure
 • 1/2 part Cow Manure
 • 1/4 part Chicken Manure
 • 1/4 part Rabbit manure
 • 1/2 part Leaf Mold
 • 1 part Worm Castings
 • 1 part Compost
 • 1/2 part semi-finished compost
 • 1/2 part Garden Soil
She let that sit for about a month and then prepared her beds with it/

How about you guys?

Too much manure; not enough time... Dangerous mix...

We like compost. You should hit the Compost Forum and see what we think about safely using manures...

Manure definately needs to compost for a while, and compost hot to be safe. Take out the worm castings(and save them for later) and that looks like a good compost start. Once its compost, mix the worm casting and some more soil in and it'd be great soil. Although, with that much manure it could be real high in nitrogen, so I'd up the leaf mold quit a bit
