Questions about D-Earth

A friend gave me a bag of D-Earth when I told him that I found slugs in my garden. My questions are what about the "good pests" like earth worms? Will the D-Earth kill them, too? Is the D-Earth absorbed into the soil & therefore my plants?
I know that some people use traps with beer or lettuce but I'd prefer to not attract them to my garden. My preference is to deter them away from my garden. Any suggestions on what is best for that?
Thanks all! :D

Diatomaceous earth will not hurt your earthworms. Here's a citation about that:

One particular research project very carefully proved that diatomaceous earth does not hurt earthworms in the soil. https://www.dirtdoctor.com/organic/garden/view_org_research/id/41/

if you go to the site, you can look up the actual research.
