Strange parasitic worms

I looked at my beets in my garden today and I noticed they had parasitic worms eating their leaves. The worms have orange heads, purple/black bodies, and are about 2 centimeters in length. Does anyone know how I can get rid of them?

Your location and a picture would be very helpful.

Hand picking and squishing will eliminate or reduce just about any pest.
