Indoor Juniper in Australian Summer/Pruning

Hello!

Looking through this forum I realised that Junipers are considered outdoor plants, but mine seems quite happy on a windowsill. It gets a fair breeze and direct sunlight for a couple of hours of the day.

I considered putting it out on the balcony, but it'd be out in blazing summer heat (38 degrees a lot of the time). Would moving it outdoors still be better than the windowsill in summer?

One more thing - it's getting fairly large and bushy, but all the info I can find on pruning is divided into seasons, and I can't tell what hemisphere they apply to. Is summer a fair enough time to prune? Also, should I order specialised clippers or will scissors do?

Thanks very much, and happy holidays! :)
