Does anyone have experience in difficult air-layering? I thought this apricot looked like a good possible for a bonsai, but the live area vs the dead wood makes me wonder if an air-layer will even work.
thoughts??
thanks

ttarpcire,

I assume that you are intending to layer at a location with intact bark. Although I have successfully layered Elms, I have had much less luck with other species, particularly fruit trees. I think my biggest problem was rushing the process. It may take more than one season before separation, which always concerned me.
