Yellow and dropping leaves

I have recently obtained two trees (Chinnese elm and Tree of a thousand stars) and have notice in about two weeks of having them watering regularly and putting in a position in the house that gives plenty of light the leaves are turning yellow and dropping to a point of concern. What am I doing wrong here.

Probably overwatering; check the soil and water when they begin to dry some. Watering by schedule does not work; you have to check each pot and learn when your tree really needs water. Serissas can be particularly finicky in this respect...
