gardenia Bonsai

I get conflicting advice from various sources concerning the gardenia bonsai - water every day, water every other day, water every thrid day, none have said anything about misting - one says apply chelated iron to correct yellow or falling leaves - what is this? How is it aplied? Some real life advice from a real live person who knows something about growing gardenia bonsais would be really helpful.

Welcome, Angel. You have come to the right place. Mostly humans here with some good bonsai experience. While I don't have anything to add regarding gardenias, I'm sure someone here will be able to help you.

Basic info regarding watering any bonsai, don't do it on a schedule, water when the tree needs it. I use shish kabob sticks, which you can buy in the super market for $1.00, and stick them in the soil to test for moisture. If the stick is damp, don't water.

Found this: Chelated Iron
The effectiveness of chelated iron supplements is debated. While advertisers tout the benefits of chelated minerals, some skeptics point out that once the chelated minerals enter the digestive tract, the chemical bond is broken down anyway. The minerals are then handled by the body in the same way as their non-chelated counterparts. Skeptics contend that paying more for chelated minerals is simply a waste of money.

However, many plant owners have noticed a dramatic improvement in the health of their plants after adding chelated iron to the soil; for them, the benefits are worth the extra cost.

Thanks again - I suppose it's worth a try. it disturbs me when I see the leaves yelowing and buds dropping off - however on the one that is the worst - I have two - I have had 3 blooms - go figure.
